  • Bible Commentaries – a collection of Bible commentaries compiled under the Virtual Theological Library Project by the Association of Christian Librarians.
  • Bible Gateway – a rich social and personal connection to freely read, research, and reference Scripture on your desktop, laptop, tablet, smartphone in more than 200 versions and more than 70 languages.
  • Bible Research – more than 30 links to Bible research websites. These links are found on Regent University’s Library web page.
  • Bible Researcher – this is a site for Bible students who are looking for detailed information on the history of the canon, texts, and versions of Scripture.
  • Bible Sprout – Online Bible study resource, an educational Christian website focused on helping people know more about God’s truth through reliance on scripture.
  • Bible Study Tools (from Liberty University) – free online Bible website for verse search and in-depth studies. Includes 29 versions of the Bible, commentaries, concordances, Bible dictionaries, Biblical encyclopedias and historical Christian and church books including Foxe’s Book of Martyrs. They also offer Greek and Hebrew Interlinear for the New and old Testament, lexicons for original Greek and Hebrew reading of Scripture, as well as popular Church history books.
  • Blue Letter Bible – provides powerful tools for an in-depth study of God’s Word through our free online reference library, with study tools that are grounded in the historical, conservative Christian faith.
  • Classic Christian Library – A library of the best Christian works from over the centuries. Commentaries recommended by Charles Spurgeon are indicated with an asterisk (*). Also includes devotional Bible studies, works on doctrinal studies and systematic theology, topical Bible studies, and complete/collected works of noted authors such as Augustine, Richard Baxter, Jonathan Edwards, John Flavel, John Owen, and Charles Spurgeon, among others.
  • Evangelical Textual Criticism – a blog describes itself as a forum for people with knowledge of the Bible in its original languages to discuss its manuscripts and textual history from the perspective of historic evangelical theology.
  • International Standard Bible Encyclopedia – An exhaustive Biblical encyclopedia that details every significant word in the Bible. Contains articles by nearly 200 scholars about every aspect of the culture, language, people, and literature of the Bible.
  • Dictionary of Socio-Rhetorical Interpretation – This site contains detailed descriptions and examples of arguably the most robust exegetical methodology around. SRI is used as the method of choice in our graduate program.
  • K. C. Hanson’s Palestine in the Time of Jesus – K. C. Hanson is the editor-in-chief of Wipf and Stock Publishers. This site contains extensive links that support Hanson’s 2nd edition of the book Palestine in the Time of Jesus. There are links to photos of Syria, Palestine, Mesopotamia, Israel, West Bank, Sinai, Greece and Rome, ancient documents, chronologies of the ancient world, New Testament papyri and codices, and more.
  • Logos 8 – Logos 8 Basic Bible software is now being offered free of charge. Once you’ve downloaded the software, there are training videos to get you started using Logos 8. Once you have signed up for Logos’ email list you will receive offers for free eBook downloads each month as well as discounts on other titles.
  • Ministry Matters Legacy Library – Ministry Matters™ offers practical and immediate inspiration for preachers, teachers, and worship leaders.   • NT Gateway – a comprehensive directory of academic internet resources related to the New Testament. It is divided into several sub-directories and dozens of pages, each relating to a specific topic. Every link is annotated. The annotations help users to pinpoint the information for which they are looking. The New Testament Gateway focuses on resources that will be of interest to both scholars and students of the New Testament. Authored by Dr Mark Goodacre, Associate Professor in the Dept of Religion at Duke University in partnership with Logos since 2009.
  • Online Biblical Studies Journals Search – Google Custom Search engine for open access Biblical studies journals.
  • Online Commentaries (from Western Seminary) – This custom Google search engine “Open Access Bible Commentaries Quick Search” created by Sally Shelton (ORU) makes searching online commentaries easy. Not all of the newest and most scholarly commentaries are available on the internet or through subscription research databases. Due to publisher arrangements, one can only gain access to these preferred resources through Bible study software programs such as Logos. Many older commentaries are now available.   • Open Access Bible Commentaries Quick Search – This is a Google custom search just for commentaries that pulls entries from other commentaries’ sites. All you have to do is enter a book of the Bible or a passage of scripture and several links will come up.
  • Open Access Digital Theological Library (OADTL) – a virtual library for theology, religious studies, and related disciplines. The mission of OADTL is to make all open access content in religious studies and related fields discoverable to everyone, everywhere in the world through a single search experience for free forever. The OADTL currently contains about 100,000 OA ebooks and several hundred thousand articles in religious studies. The collections also contain thousands of Ph.D. and D.Min. dissertations. The collections are growing quickly.   • Journal of the Jesus Movement in Its Jewish Setting (JJMJS) – JJMJS is a peer-reviewed academic open access journal. The journal publishes one (1) issue per year.   • PQDT – In addition to the Electronic Theses & Dissertations (ETD) movement, many scholars are opting to participate in ProQuest’s Open Access Publishing model and have paid ProQuest a little more money in order to make their dissertations and theses available in their entirety to the general public with no subscription needed.
  • OATD – the Open Access Theses and Dissertations (OATD) provides an index to over three million electronic theses and dissertations. These come from a variety of sources. “OATD.org aims to be the best possible resource for finding OATD.org aims to be the best possible resource for finding open access graduate theses and dissertations published around the world. Metadata (information about the theses) comes from over 1100 colleges, universities, and research institutions.”
  • American Doctoral Dissertations – ADD provides electronic access to the only comprehensive record of dissertations accepted by American universities during that time period, the print index Doctoral Dissertations Accepted by American Universities. Containing more than 172,000 theses and dissertations in total from 1902 to the present, it was created with the generous support of the H. W. Wilson Foundation and the Congregational Library & Archives in Boston. Newly enhanced with an additional 80,000 citations for theses and dissertations, the new citations include a link to access the full text, when available, via the Institutional Repository where the thesis or dissertation is housed such as OhioLINK, Rochester Institute of Technology and North Carolina State University.

  • Christian Reflection: A Series in Faith and Ethics – was a quarterly publishing project of The Institute for Faith and Learning at Baylor University. Every issue of Christian Reflection offers reliable guidance in engaging the ethical dimensions of today’s world. The themed articles, inspirational pieces, book-reviews, interviews, Christian art, liturgies, and hymns combine to help the Church reintegrate Christian ethical reflection, worship, and art.
  •  Globe Ethics – global network of persons and institutions interested in various fields of applied ethics. It offers access to a large number of resources on ethics, especially through its leading global digital ethics library and facilitates collaborative web-based research, conferences, online publishing and information sharing.
  • Religion Online – Religion Online is designed to assist teachers, scholars and general “seekers” who are interested in exploring religious issues. The aim is to develop an extensive library of resources, representing many different points of view, but all written from the perspective of sound scholarship. While the initial orientation has been to seek material written primarily from a Christian perspective, the ultimate aim is to broaden the scope to include material on all the world’s major religions. There are nearly 6.000 chapters, monographs, speeches and articles on line.

  • Harvard Divinity Bulletin
  • Journal of Applied Missiology – A semi-annual publication of the ACU Missions Department, with issues in April and October from 1990 to 1996. It was produced in limited quantities for missions alumni, missionaries on the field, and missions professors at sister institutions. All back issues are now on-line here.
  • Journal of Biblical Studies
  • Journal of Contemporary Theological Studies – In this journal the connection between theology and practical ministry is examined from a scholarly as well as a practical perspective. This area of research is simultaneously an area of research from antiquity and yet a new area of scholarly endeavor as well. JCTS began at Manna University as a forum for scholarly discussion and review. Then in 2014 other colleges joined the scholarly forum. Each paper is reviewed through an editorial process then selected for presentation and the best of the papers are selected for publication in this journal.

  • The Journal of Southern Religion – JSR is the first scholarly journal devoted to the study of religion in the American South.   • JSTOR-Free Limited Access – JSTOR offers free online reading access to the archives of 1,200 of the world’s most prominent journals. People can sign up for a JSTOR account and, every two weeks, read up to three articles online for free.
  • JURN.org – JURN is a unique search tool which helps you find free academic articles and books. Established in 2009 to comprehensively cover the arts and humanities, in 2014 JURN expanded in scope. JURN now also covers selected university full-text repositories and many additional e-journals in science, biomedical, business and law. In 2015/6 JURN expanded again, adding over 600 e-journals on aspects of the natural world.

  • Critical Thinking – The Foundation for Critical Thinking is a non-profit organization promoting the change in education and society in a swiftly changing world. The receive over 150,000 visitors to the site each month from 100 different countries all over the globe. A list of colleges, universities, teachers and educators are given on the site with information being offered from sections such as research, articles, professional development, assessment and testing and news. There are conferences and workshops to attend and suggested reading can be found in the bookstore. Full details about the community are given.
  • Edge.org – The Edge is a very popular site amongst philosophers and ranks high on Alexa.com. Information can be found in the Conversation section and can be browsed by topic, year, or tag. The topics can be chosen from mind, life, culture, universe and technology and there are also videos to view and books in the library. Further information can be obtained from news and events and full details about the organization can  be found on the site.
  • Faith and Philosophy : Journal of the Society of Christian Philosophers – published quarterly by the Society of Christian Philosophers. The journal encourages discussions among philosophers representing a wide variety of theological perspectives and philosophical orientations that fall largely within the philosophy of religion.
  • History of Philosophy, without any gaps – the publishers take thinkers through the history of philosophy ‘without any gaps’ as stated on the site. Episodes in Philosophy are listed and can be viewed and commented upon with all the latest updates given regularly. Subjects and individual Philosphers can be chosen from the classical, later antiquity or Islamic world sections revealing many interesting facts and details. Links and podcasts are given to demonstrate data and participating in any of the threads in the blog is welcome.
  • Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy – The Internet Encyclopedia of Philosophy (IEP) is a non-profit organization that provides open access to detailed, scholarly information on key topics and philosophers in all areas of philosophy. The staff of 30 editors and approximately 300 authors hold doctorate degrees and are professors at colleges and universities around the world (though mostly from English-speaking countries). Submissions are peer reviewed by specialists according to strict criteria.
  • Philosopher.org – This is a small site, but the information given on Philosophy is vast. There is an index containing a list of topics alphabetically with information on each chosen subject along with links. Topics can also be chosen from ‘Contents’ with titles such as Enlightenment, God, Existentialism, Mind, Science and Romanticism to name a few all leading to valuable information. The author of the site taught Philosophy for many years in London and his passion for the subject can clearly be gained from the site.

  • Journal of Contemporary Theological Studies – In this journal the connection between theology and practical ministry is examined from a scholarly as well as a practical perspective.
