Leadership in Action: Practical Leadership from a Manna U Student Amid the COVID-19 Crisis

by Frank Brazell

Manna U has done such an amazing job with reminding me of God’s promises especially in these times of uncertainty. I’m happy to be representing my school and doing the same for the people in my circle of influence.

– Jennifer Salazar, Freshman

Each semester, all Manna U Undergraduate Students are required to put their classroom instruction into practice through Leadership in Action. Students practice ministry in areas as diverse as teaching children’s ministry, leading worship, and leading community outreaches and foodbanks. In the middle of the recent COVID-19 crisis, one student is taking action by reaching out to her community with love, service, and support.

Jennifer Salazar is a Freshman in the Associate of Arts in Divinity program, completing her degree entirely online with Manna U as military wife and mom.

For her LIA project this semester, Jennifer wrote cards of encouragement for 33 families, but felt God asking her to do more for people she may not even know personally. She put a sign in her yard with a contact number and a special message:

“There is power in prayer! How can we pray for you today?”

Even for the casual passerby, the sign has made an impact. Those walking or driving by stop to read the sign. From her window, Jennifer has seen them smiling— Encouraged.
