Jennifer Salazar: A Journey of Faith, Education, and Grace

At Manna University, every student has a unique story of faith, growth, and transformation. Jennifer Salazar, an Army spouse of 15 years and a dedicated mother, as well as a passionate student, exemplifies the power of perseverance and God’s calling in education.

Jennifer grew up in Southern California, but her family’s journey has taken her to Chesterfield, Missouri, where she currently resides with her husband and children. As a stay-at-home mom, she has embraced the opportunity to focus on her education while still being present for her family.

Her journey of faith began later in life. For many years, Jennifer lived as an unbeliever, but after the birth of her middle child, she realized, “…I wanted to be a better woman, wife, mother, and friend,” she shared. “I knew Jesus was the key to my transformation.” At 33, she gave her life to Christ, setting her on a new path—one that would eventually lead her to Manna University.

After moving to Chesterfield in 2019, Jennifer felt a strong nudge from God to pursue biblical higher education. Not knowing where to begin, she started searching online for top Christian colleges. That’s when Manna University caught her eye.

Pursuing higher education later in life wasn’t easy. “Seeking an Associate of Arts in my forties was embarrassing at first,” she admitted. “However, accepting less than who God has created me to be is more defeating.” Despite past struggles with school, Jennifer has been fueled by a deep hunger for knowledge and truth, which has helped her succeed in her studies. “Education is a confidence builder,” she said. “But I don’t use it to puff up my chest—rather, to courageously proclaim God’s truth.”

Jennifer’s education at Manna U has equipped her to serve in her local church with confidence and boldness. She leads a small group for third graders on Sundays and facilitates a group for middle and high school moms on Wednesdays. “Because of the biblical and leadership knowledge I have received, I can confidently share God’s truth in a leadership role,” she said.

More than just academics, Manna U has provided Jennifer with valuable life lessons—especially grace. She recalls a difficult personal struggle that nearly forced her to drop a course. Expecting disappointment, she approached her instructor, only to be met with prayer and compassion. “In my interaction with my instructor, I felt the hand of God—loving, caring, and comforting me,” she shared. That moment transformed her understanding of grace and continues to shape how she extends compassion to others.

Jennifer’s journey is one of perseverance, faith, and the unshakable confidence that comes from knowing who she is in Christ. No longer hesitant to share her educational journey, she proudly tells others about Manna University and the impact it has had on her life.

Her story is a testament to the power of education, faith, and the grace that God extends through His people. As she continues to grow in knowledge and leadership, Jennifer stands as an inspiration to those who may doubt their own ability to pursue God’s calling—reminding us all that it’s never too late to step into His plan.
