This scholarship has been created in honor of Anita Louise (Gaynor) Scott, born on February 19, 1946, and passed on February 7, 2008. She was the loving wife of Robert Scott, and the proud mother of Robert G. Scott, Janine Anita Scott, MD, and Russell E. Scott. She was also the doting grandmother of seven grandchildren.
Mom was blessed with the gift of hospitality. Anyone who came to our home knew that, as she always made everyone feel like our home was their home as well; she made them feel comfortable. She took the time to make sure that our guests felt like family, more than just guests. She did this with her loving manner, and her delectable meals. Mom was a consummate homemaker and cook. When you left her presence, you left full of love and awesome, home cooked food. Truly, you left full.
Mom was a proponent of education, instilling in her children its importance in their lives. As her daughter, I am extremely thankful for all of the sacrifices that she made for us, which allowed me to focus on my studies, eventually paving the way for me to become a physician. Her continuous support bolstered my confidence to attain my dream.
The final words to sum up my mom come from her loving husband of 40 years, my father: “Anita was a terrific wife and mother, who loved and served God.”
